What is Realms?

Realms is a furry version of ancient Egypt. RP is centered in the city of Bubastis, the City of the Cats, and dedicated to the Cat goddess herself, Bastet. Joining her is Anubis, the jackal god in charge of the passage to (and sometimes, FROM) the Underworld with his faithful puppy, Sibuna; and Isis, portrayed here as a younger and rather impulsive goddess who has managed to get herself into a few live's worth of trouble. Rounding out our FC's is Kafele,  former bodyguard to Isis and now her mate.

With the cubs doing a great deal more sleeping than they expected, Isis and Kafele hire a nursemaid from the Temple named Meret, so that they can get out and perform their usual duties. Oddly, around this time, Isis begins to have vivid nightmares. As Isharai figures predominantly in them, Kafele tries to convince her that it's just a Mother's concern for her departed daughter. But, although she concedes that it's possible, deep inside she's not really so sure. Because, she's beginning to feel a pull from a place she never expected to return to!
As always, there is plenty of room for others to join. If you're interested, just let one of us know and we'll get you immediately involved!
We are currently looking for RPers for Priestesses to take over the healing center and the library in particular. Also, we'd love to see a villain or two actually hang around long enough to cause trouble!

The cubs have been born! Mosi and Nenet survive and promise to add some happy RP to the Realms world as they begin to explore and learn their place. Isharai has joined the realms of the Underworld as a beloved Ka who paid for a choice that had to be made.

02/02/2003
With an unpredicted swing in the wrong direction on our initial attempt to begin the Homeland's TP, we discussed our options and decided to take a break over the Holidays and then restart. Our break has ended and the restart begun with Isis and Kafele bidding the others goodbye and setting out for Kafele's Father's lands.
This time things begin much quieter although poor Kafele ends up fielding dozens of questions about just what will be found when they arrive. Isis had been reading scrolls from her extensive collection and had a vague idea of what a *Pride* would be like, but even with that knowledge, she's in for some real surprises.
Of course, still the toughest for her is going to be the need to prove to his parents that she can hunt. The cost of killing in anything other than defense is very high for a goddess. Isis has hinted of this to Kafele, but she refuses to tell him just what that cost will be. He reassures her as best he can that she need only hunt twice. But even he is having a few second thoughts.
Meanwhile, back in Bubastis, Bastet is busy helping Pantra and Amankhsi find a suitable spot to build their healing center..and Selina choose the perfect site for her school.
And.....for some unknown reason...Anubis appears to be very distracted!

10/24/02   Having bid the others goodbye, Isis and Kafele set out for his homelands. But, right from the beginning, things go wrong. He tells Isis she must keep her real persona hidden...that his family would not at all understand a living, breathing goddess. Isis responds with predictable results. However, even this isn't the worst she must face. Kafele explains that a *real* lioness will be expected to hunt and kill food for her Lion. Isis will be expected to join the other Pridal lionesses in a hunt for the feast. She alone knows the horrifying consequences of a goddess taking a life other than in defense. Desperate, she tries to allay the results, even as she is taught, by Kafele himself, what she must do to kill.

9/27/02  The trial has been completed and Apep and Khufu tossed into a place that even they have no hope of escaping from. Not
with the guards that Anubis has put in place!
That task finally completed, attention was turned to
the Initiation Rites for Isis, Selina, Pantra and the returned Atete. Bastet, as usual does a stellar job and in a short time the Temple has three new priestesses and one former one . All that is left is to announce their chosen positions in the Temple...the position carved into the inside of their rings. Selina is to take charge of the Temple School and perhaps begin the formation of a home to care for homeless young ones. Pantra is given charge of the Temple's Healing Area, with the thought in mind that she build a new treatment building. And Atete, who is technically Anubis' High Priestess, is asked to take over the Temple Library.
Oddly, the inside of Isis' ring is uncarved... simply left plain. Is it because now that she is free, she and Kafele may finally travel to his Father's lands where he plans to ask his parents permission to take the goddess as his mate? Or... is there another reason?

9/14/02 We have moved forward in the plot with the final deaths of Apep and Khufu. They're Underworld trial is coming up soon with some surprising results.
Then, we will move forward to the initiation of a new priestess, the re-initiation of a returning priestes and the re-re-initiation of Isis herself who is no longer forced to stay in the form of her Isis-bird, but is now returned to the form of a goddess. And, impatiently awaiting the trial so that she can take on the form she and Kafele chose and make their visit to his Father's Pride to bid his acceptance of her as a daughter-in-law.
A goddess needing acceptance by a mortal?? Oh, this should be interesting!

In general, any animal indigenous to Egypt will be allowed.

No fantasy creatures are appropriate for Realms.
We are not accepting any more gods and goddess at this time. If this world begins to grow by leaps and bounds, then we just may reconsider that. ;)
Absolutely NO humans will be accepted.There will be NO exceptions to that rule. Yes, both Bastet and Isis can appear in their human form from time to time, but that is purely because they are goddesses.

Species Ideas
Of course, cats of almost any sort will work here. Obviously no Persians, tigers....you get the idea. :) Jackals, African Wild Dogs, Desert Foxes, Fennec Foxes, and a few select domestic breeds (ask); Falcons, Hawks, Vultures, Owls, Ibis, Heron, Wild Ducks, the smaller more domestic birds, Hippos, Crocodiles, many snakes, Camels, many of the smaller monkeys and...if you really want to be different....how about a fish or a Scarab?Also rabbits, frogs, toads, cows, goats, lambs and oxen. If you know of any others, just page Isis, Bastet, Anubis or Nefertari.

Name Ideas
If you watched The Mummy or The Mummy Returns, you probably already have many ideas for names. Obviously Joe and Martha won't work here. Neither will Simba or Nala.  If you need some help, just ask. I have a nice source of name choices.
